With England’s World Cup squad already announced there is plenty of speculation surrounding who will make it into the manager’s starting line-up for the tournament opener against Tunisia on the 18th of June. We know Harry Kane will be captain, we know that there are some names who haven’t made it into the squad; but we don’t know the eleven that will start the game.
What we do know is that there are eleven stand-out performers in another category that we’re sure will make an impact on whether or not we enjoy this summer’s action: televisions. While that may be a slightly tenuous link, we’re all going to be watching the action live on television at home, perhaps in the local pub or maybe even on big-screens in city centres.
Which TV should I choose?
With that in mind we know that there are plenty of people looking to get themselves a brand new TV in time for kick-off, but where do you start? There are a whole host of new 4K Ultra HD televisions available, many of which have been released especially for the 2018 World Cup.
Then, once you’ve bought your new television, do you buy a home theatre system complete with wireless or Bluetooth soundbars to go with it, or do you go all-in and turn your home into a smart home with automated smart lighting, speakers and more for the ultimate match day experience?
The options are all dependent on your budget and how you choose to use your television. A 4K Ultra HD TV is undoubtedly the future of television but if you have no intention of using your TV to stream shows from the Internet then a smart TV may not be the most suitable option and there may be less expensive options out there, which you can find in our recent guide to buying a new TV for all budgets.
Our top-rated televisions to watch this year’s World Cup
It’s very easy to have your judgment clouded with so many high spec smart TVs on the market, and it can be difficult to understand what makes one TV better than another.
In order to help you, we’ve taken some of the stress out of the process for you by compiling what we feel are our top-rated televisions – our starting eleven if you will. Now all you have to worry about is whether England will be knocked out of the competition by a relative minnow in the group stages, suffer penalty shoot-out heartache (as per usual) or, maybe, if we might just go all the way!
